You Are There 1968: Robert F. Kennedy Speaks @IndianaHistory

The Indiana Historical Society is taking their already incredible You Are There exhibits one step further by integrating holographic technology in order to tell the story of RFK’s inspiring speech in Indianapolis on the night of Martin Luther King Jr.’s assassination. The You Are There experiences aim to take visitors “inside the photograph” by recreating a scene from an archival photo with painstaking accuracy. Add their incredible interpretive staff, and you truly feel that, well …you are there! The RFK speech will (by far) be the most emotional of the exhibits, and will no doubt have people talking.

The other two current You Are There exhibits, which are part of the IHS’s larger Indiana Experience initiative, include the “1914: Violin Maker Upstairs” (I enjoyed chatting him up about the improbability of America entering the war), and “1924: Tool Guys & Tin Lizzies”, (in which Danny geeked out about cars). A former exhibit (the first of the series) was a WWII-era grocery store.

The IHS has worked hard to reinvigorate its image and its programming in the past years. I researched the museum’s communication strategy last fall (focusing on their award winning re-brand of the IHS as Indiana’s Storyteller and the Indiana Experience). My administration class also had the chance to speak with the CEO, John Herbst, whose enthusiasm for the IHS’ new direction was infectious.

Museums are trying harder than ever to remain exciting (spectacular!) and relevant to their visitors, while still maintaining that sense of respect and authority on their subject matter. Sometimes this can be a fine line, but the IHS has found a way to impressively deliver on both: their scholarly reputation as the city’s archive & genealogical resource, and exciting, unique programming that draws in a variety of repeat visitors (myself included).

Get down and Boogie (Burger)

styxxandstones:

McDonalds had it in the ‘80’s and ‘90’s…Burger King is try’n real hard to master the new decades to come….but when it comes down to wire…Boogie Burger is the Winner.

Now I’m no ass kisser, but i love put’n my lips to these buns. A soft sesame seed bun with thick heart (and well cooked) beef complimented with several types of cheese, veggies (for moms) and everything in between.

Oh shoot i for got…they took it back to grandpa’s day…THEY GOT MALTS BRO! MALTS! And they are to die for #casketshrug. Ice cream and shakes….that sounds like a win to me.

And who can really forget the famed (and respected) Garlic Fries…keep helly gum and deck…boys be garggli’n fabreeze HA!

Not only does Boogie Burger (located 927 E Westfield Blvd in Broad Ripple) off excellent meals but they are pocket friendly as well. got a 20 spot..you can get a classic boogie with cheese share the fries (its enough for three grown men) and a coke or shake..youre good to go on that date my friend.

Add friendly service and enviorment + great food x sweet treats and a great time = The cream of the crop @BoogieBurger (twitter)

Now enough jaw jackin….i got a Boogie with cheese and mushrooms call’n

Catch you when life throws you…

Indianapolis: Smoked Gouda Apple Melt at Chatham Tap
Awesome small Soccer pub in Indy, and this sandwich was very delicious. The hint of cinnamon added to the apple really made the flavors pop!

Fox59 takes you in the Collections storage of my 2 homes: @TCMIndy & @IMAmuseum! Introducing…where I hope to work one day ;) & where I’m grateful to have the opportunity to hang out on occasion.

Check out some of my favorite objects that I’ve come to know and love over the year (ie: the toy weinermobile that is front & center here and Miss. Shimane, who’s now present in Wikimedia!) Some of my favorite people make appearances too: The Children’s Museum’s Christy O’Grady and the IMA’s Jesse Speight.

Keep your eyes peeled for a cameo appearance of (a portion of) Bumblebee (yes, the Transformer).

Thanks to Bonnie for finding and posting :).
